Firestone Library Reference Collection

This book collection serves as the main reference collection for Princeton University Library. While all subjects are represented, the collection primarily serves humanities and social sciences researchers. General reference sources are also available. This print collection is complemented by thousands of electronic reference tools.

The Reference Collection is located on the Main Floor of Firestone in the Trustee Reading Room, a large, open, light-filled study space bounded on one side by glass panels containing the names of all present and past university trustees and presidents. This room is perfect for reading, writing, and quiet contemplation.

The symbol “(DR)” precedes the call number for cataloged items located in the Trustee Reading Room. “Ready Reference” refers to the shelving area just outside of the room's entrance. The collection does not circulate.

Librarians and library student assistants are available at the nearby Reference Desk to help with research questions and information needs during scheduled hours of service. E-mail and IM reference services are also available, as well as in-depth research consultations and special workshops. See the sidebar for more information.
